18-year-olds accused of assaulting couple in shopping center
WINTSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (AP) – Police say two 18-year-olds have been charged with assaulting a man and woman at a North Carolina mall.
Brandon Denard Crosby and Tynaysha Jada Davis were arrested Monday and charged with assault. Winston-Salem Police said a couple were beaten up in a parking lot at the Hanes Shopping Center on Saturday.
The two adults went to the mall to pick up the man’s daughter, who said she was threatened by a group of teenagers. Six other people involved in the case have been charged with minors.
It is not known whether Crosby or Davis have attorneys. Mall officials say teens under 18 must now be accompanied by an adult over 21 during all weekend opening hours.
A North Carolina mall is expanding a policy that requires teens under 18 to be accompanied by someone over 21 after a weekend attack involving a man, woman and daughter.
The Winston-Salem Journal reports that the policy change for the Hanes shopping center in Winston-Salem extends the requirement to cover all shopping center hours from Friday to Sunday. In the recent incident, two adults were punched on the surface of the parking lot and police said the attackers also stole a handbag.
The two had gone to the mall after the woman’s 13-year-old daughter said a group of teenagers threatened to attack her.
