Delhi Police on Friday dismantled an illicit liquor factory operating in the village of Old Garhi Mendu in Usmanpur, Shahdara. The police also seized huge amounts of chemicals and equipment that were used to seal the liquor bottles.
It is suspected that the illicit alcohol was supposed to be sold in Haryana.
According to reports, a police team was patrolling the New Usmanpur area on Friday when they noticed a foul smell near a Masjid located in the area. Suspicious, police knocked on the door of a neighboring house to which a man named Shyam (26) answered.
SEIZED ITEMS
Subsequently, a search was conducted which resulted in the recovery of a plastic drum filled with 220 liters (approximately) of illicit alcohol, 50 sealed quart bottles of ADDS Motta Liquor, marked as being for sale in Haryana, 2 plastic containers with chemicals of 32 kg each, 1 plastic canister of 5 liters of chemicals needed to mix illicit alcohol, 2 jute bags filled with empty bottles, 2 sachets filled with caps, stickers of different alcohol brands, 3D hologram stickers, a bottle sealing machine and a scooty that was used to deliver the illicit alcohol.
A case has been filed in this regard and further investigations are ongoing.
