R Park stocked with another trout reserve – Buckrail
JACKSON, Wyo. – Rendevous Park is becoming a popular spot as the summer days start to heat up. The pond area is always a hit with kids – young and old – especially those trying out paddleboards, kayaks, and other floating things.
Keen eyes will undoubtedly notice more than a few trout swimming in the pond with exits to the Snake River. In fact, the second shipment of Snake River Cutthroat Trout was recently placed in the Rendezvous “R” Park Kids’ Fishing Pond, courtesy of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
This time a total of 700 fish were released, 100 of which were retired adult spawners who provided eggs for the Auburn Fish Hatchery spawning program. This brings the total to 1,600 fish stored, of which 200 are 16 in.
That should be more than enough fun for families with young people, especially this weekend when temperatures are expected to soar into the 80s.
When visiting R Park, please be aware of the following rules and regulations:
- Fishing at R Park is only possible if you are under 16
- Please practice capture and release
- Bait is prohibited except as part of a pre-approved children’s program
- WY State Law: A fishing license is required for residents and non-residents aged 14 and over. Non-residents under the age of 14 do not need a license if accompanied by an adult with a valid Wyoming fishing license.
