Teenage Engineering officially announces the new PO-80 Disc Mill – “a compact, portable disc cutter”. The design team at Teenage Engineering is responsible for some of the most interesting and creative musical devices on the market, from its build-your-own Pocket Operator modular synthesizer kits to the design of Panic’s Playdate portable game system, but today he’s taking his eclectic insight to the (sort of) vinyl record space with the new PO-80 Record Factory. New Teenage Engineering PO-80 Record Factory

When we last heard from Teenage Engineering, they were showcasing their must-have OP-1 Field synth gadget for content creators. Before that, it graced musicians and sound tinkerers with its magical new TX-6 Mac/iOS audio interface synthesizer combo, but today it’s all about its new record-cutting machine, the PO -80.

Designed in conjunction with Yuri Suzuki, Teenage Engineering describes the new PO-80 Record Factory as a portable record cutter that allows users to “burn and play 5-inch records with ultra-analog lo-fi sound.”

Here is a brief overview of the feature set:

  • Cutting and playback of monophonic discs
  • Recording time: approximately 33 laps. about four minutes / 45 rpm. three minutes per record side
  • Powered by USB. 3.5 mm mono input/output terminal
  • Size: 3.54″ x 6.30″ x 5.91″ / 19cm × 16cm × 15cm. Size: 1.26 lbs / 570g
  • What’s in the box: PO–80 mounting kit, spare cutting needle, six blank 5-inch black discs, USB power cable, 3.5 mm audio jack, adapter for 7-inch discs, gakken charger

As you may have noticed, the PO-80 Record Factory is part of the brand’s growing line of Pocket Operator synthesizers and is designed as both a music processing tool and a unique referencing experience. :

Simply plug any audio device into the 3.5mm audio input and save your own recording in an instant. yes, it really is as simple as that.

You can simply connect audio sources to immediately burn audio to the included discs or “Bring new life to your favorite 7″ recordings with ultra-analog sound quality”. The unit includes built-in speakers so you You can listen directly from the needle on the PO-80 or connect the unit to an external speaker via the 3.5mm audio jack.

Now available for purchase, the PO-80 Record Factory is another of TE’s build-it-yourself units and includes everything you need to assemble it, “from the needle to the records, just add your tracks and start burning your own discs”.

The Teenage Engineering PO-80 Record Factory is now available for purchase on $149 with additional recordings to come 10 packs at $20.
