Transicold launched Lynx Fleet as a new monitoring service for refrigerated trucks

VSback Transicold has deployed new features for monitoring refrigerated trucks and trailers on its digital platform, renamed Fleet Lynx.

The Lynx Fleet offering enhances the previous web application with an at-a-glance view of performance metrics for refrigerated trucks and trailers, according to the company. These visual indicators were designed to help fleet managers monitor the use of transport refrigeration equipment, improve operational efficiency, and spot and avoid potential equipment problems.

Lynx Fleet provides an overview of refrigerated truck and trailer performance metrics to help fleet managers monitor transport refrigeration equipment usage, improve operational efficiency, and spot and avoid problems equipment potential.

Formerly called eSolutions, Lynx Fleet for North American Refrigerated Trucks and Trailers is part of Carrier’s global Lynx ecosystem, which applies advanced IoT analytics, machine learning, and various big data technologies to connect the cold chain in the cloud, automate key processes, and deliver real-time visibility and insights along the cargo journey.

“Lynx Fleet continues to open up broad opportunities for value-added capabilities,” said David Brondum, director of telematics, Truck Trailer Americas, Carrier Transicold. “Our proprietary dashboard is a great example of this.

From temperatures maintained in cargo areas to performance of refrigeration equipment, Lynx Fleet monitors and collects dozens of inputs from each asset – thousands of fleet-wide data points, said David Brondum, Director of Truck and Trailer Telematics for Carrier Transicold in America.

“It then distills, analyzes and consolidates much of this critical data into different insights so fleet managers can quickly spot assets that may need attention,” Brondum said.

Prioritized based on customer feedback, the initial rollout provides insights such as:

  • Low fuel level: Provides visibility to refrigeration units that need fuel, helping to avoid emergency calls for refueling and engine priming.
  • Low battery voltage: Identifies the number of units in service that may have battery issues, which could result in an emergency call if not resolved quickly.
  • Active shutdown alarm: Alerts on critical alarm conditions that will cause a refrigeration unit to shut down, helping fleets prevent load losses.
  • Door measurements:– Helps fleets understand the number of times cargo doors are opened over a period of time to help manage fuel costs and temperature control issues.
  • Asset run times: Helps fleets balance asset utilization and manage maintenance based on engine hours and other factors.

“Each overview displays summary information for the entire customer fleet that can be drilled down to isolate and display details about specific units as needed,” Brondum said. “Over time, fleets will be able to customize their dashboards to display the information most critical to their operations.”

Hardware used with the Lynx Fleet platform is factory installed on Carrier Transicold X4 and Vector 8000 trailer and rail mounted refrigeration units. Dealer commissioning and data plan required. Lynx Fleet’s ‘enhanced monitoring and control’ data plan includes diagnostics and insights dashboard, plus premium capabilities for remote data downloads and software updates, he said. .

Lynx Fleet data can be shared with most major transportation management systems. For fleets with custom data platforms, Carrier Transicold offers growing application programming interface capabilities that make it easy to integrate and display data collected by Lynx Fleet.
